Cougar and The Kids
On
Cuthbert and Agatha's one-week birthday, their foster mom, that's me,
Lisa Wahl, was scheduled to be at the Eugene Petsmart Cat Room as an
Adoption Counselor. West Coast Dog and Cat Rescue provides
Adoption Conselors there 11-3, every weekend, Saturday and
Sunday. Since The Kids still needed to be fed every 2 hours, I
brought them with me, along with bottles, a heating pad, an extension
cord for the heating pad and supplies for cleaning them. Nothing
like traveling light, although the two kittens together still weighed
less than a pound.
All the cat room's resident cats were out, including Cougar, 4 female
adult cats and 1 male. When the kittens cried, they all noticed,
but Cougar was the one who was most interested, coming up to their
carrier and seeming to look in. Well, I thought, let's see what
will happen if she meets them.
I opened the carrier door and Cougar immediately went in and started
washing them. The actual bottle-feeding of kittens isn't really
the hard part compared to keeping them clean. So if Cougar was
willing to do that for me, I had it made. So, I got permission to
take her home with me.
I thought this was a sweet story, and I always love to take pics of my
fosters and send to my friends, so I emailed Cougar and Kids pics all
around. And my friends emailed to their friends and so on and so
on, and some of the people hearing about them worked for tv and
newspapers. So, we got on the local tv news and newspapers, and
the story was picked up by national media, and that's probably how you
found this page.
