One of the secrets to my laziness is that many of my recipes are variations on a theme, with many ingredients in common and just a few special ones that make each unique. That way, I can make up batches of "mixes" to have on hand so the actual cooking is greatly simplified. I think this comes from being a computer programmer: I use subroutines when I cook! (Just as long as I don't start cooking recursively . . .) Recipes elsewhere (which may aren't posted yet) will use these mixes.
1 Tablespoon salt
2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon powdered ginger
1 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup fruit juice or juice concentrate
1/4 cup pale dry sherry
1/2 cup water or stock
1 teaspoon Miracle Marinate Mix
equal parts of:
powdered ginger
powdered garlic
white pepper
bouillon powder (I like McKay's beef style)
onion powder (optional)
6 cups whole wheat flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup wheat gluten
2 teaspoons saltfor a fluffier variation, add some white flour
4 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups soy flour
1 cup wheat germ
1 cup wheat bran
3 Tablespoons baking soda
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
