I
was at Richardson Park in Eugene for 2 weeks in September, and when I
was leaving, pulled into the Dump Station. This sickly little
thing came out of the woods and started lapping up the spilled waste
water. Eewww! I put out fresh water and some cat food and
she purred and rubbed against me, obviously no feral. It really
appalls me to wonder how long she'd been doing that to every one
without someone doing something. Well, of course, I couldn't
drive off and leave her.
I thought she was a kitten who could easily get a new home, and was
going by a no-kill shelter so figured I could give them to her when she
got better. Nope. They wouldn't even let me foster her on
their behalf. When I took her to the vet, I learned she wasn't a
kitten after all. Although only weighing 4 1/2 pounds, she was
8-12 months old and had been through a heat already.
She's still tiny, although up to about 6 pounds when she got
spayed. But she looks so much like a Maine Coon that I'm calling
her a Munchcoon. I'm guessing malnutrition stunted her growth
because she really is tiny. But she keeps getting bushier by the
day. (See her looking gorgeous in the Gallery)
